Akon’s Behind The Music Feature! Watch it

Akon was featured on the latest episode of VH1′s “Behind The Music.”

During the interview, the musician shared his journey from a kid in Senegal to music executive conquering the charts. 

He dished on his highs and lows, including being locked up, meeting and working with the late Michael Jackson, and helping Lady GaGa launch her career.

On treated like an outcast in school at a young age: “You think I’m black now, I was the color of this jacket when I first came. Hair was nappy. So every time I open my mouth to speak, they would laugh…. I felt alone, I felt like I didn’t have any friends, so it kinda made me really angry inside.”
